Some people find their passion.
David Kvocak flew straight into his.
I first connected with David through a simple Instagram DM—just two creators admiring each other’s work. But that message turned into a friendship, and that friendship became the beginning of what would be one of Fist Bump Studio’s most trusted collaborations.
David isn’t just a drone operator. He’s a technician, an artist, and a relentless worker. When we met, we were both juggling full-time jobs and carving out time for our side passions—me with a camera, him with a drone controller. But even back then, he had something rare: depth. He wasn’t casually dabbling in FPV. He was going deep. Always learning, always experimenting. Always showing up.
And that’s what stood out most. Whether the project was big or small, paid or not, David gave it his all. That commitment earned him the reps. He’s now grown a following of over 10,000 people and launched DroneCam Studio—his own aerial production brand. And yet, no matter how far he goes, he’ll always have a home here at Fist Bump. Because his fingerprints are all over some of our earliest and most important work.
The Path to Purpose
David’s journey into drones wasn’t a long, winding one. It was love at first sight.
“Once I saw a promo video for a new drone, I knew—this is the moment. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.”
That moment of clarity turned into hours of practice. What started as a curiosity became a calling. And from there, he committed to figuring out how to turn that spark into something real.
Built With a Wider Lens
There’s a quiet honesty to how David talks about the process.
“I was just working a normal job, trying to find myself. I didn’t know exactly what I was looking for—but I knew I’d know it when I saw it.”
That sense of curiosity, mixed with a willingness to go through the messy middle, is what makes David’s perspective so valuable. He’s not trying to sell you the dream. He’s documenting the journey—failures, doubts, and all. That’s what makes the highs feel so real. Like the moment he got his first paid drone gig.
“It started as a hobby. Then I got my first check. It was amazing—and humbling.”
He’s stayed grounded ever since.
Progress, According to David
In a space that often rewards flash, David’s built his path on consistency.
“Progress is consistency. It’s tons of practice, patience with myself, and regular reality checks to stay grounded. I remind myself not to live in the clouds, but to put in the work, even when success isn’t guaranteed.”
There’s something refreshing about someone who’s in love with the craft first. Recognition will come. But he’s not waiting for it to start showing up.
He already is.
The Plain Pillars
Impact First
“I love teaching. Sharing what I’ve learned about drones and storytelling helps others create something beautiful.”
Identity is Earned
“I’ve built a voice through reps. People recognize my work now and that’s a personal win for me. I’ve always tried to show the world through my lens.”
Small Bets, Big Ideas
“My first paid drone gig taught me everything. It was small, but the feeling of being valued for my work? That changed everything.”
The Middle of the Journey
David’s not done. Far from it. He’s working on growing his YouTube channel. He’s exploring new opportunities in new cities. But most of all, he’s staying consistent.
He’s not chasing virality. He’s building something that lasts.
“If you found what you love to do… just start doing it for yourself. The rest will follow.”
