Gentle Power: Kendra McFarland of Vibrant Okanagan Concierge

Gentle Power: Kendra McFarland of Vibrant Okanagan Concierge

You don’t need to live in the same city as someone to feel their presence.
Kendra McFarland lives four hours away in the Okanagan, but she’s been a quiet force in our cycling community for years.

I first came across Kendra’s Instagram about six months after starting The Last Drop. At the time, the group was almost entirely male, and I was searching for inspiration, especially from women in cycling who were sharing stories with depth, humor, and heart. Her content felt different. Real. Light-filled. Vulnerable in the best way. We’d never met, but I felt instantly connected to her energy.

Over time, Kendra became more than a distant inspiration, she became part of our community. Whether she was making a special trip to join a ride in Vancouver or hosting visiting cyclists with her trademark warmth, Kendra always brought the kind of energy that made everyone feel welcome. Her presence encouraged other women to ride. Her consistency encouraged us all to keep showing up.

And while many know her through the bike, Kendra’s story runs much deeper.

A Business Rooted in Care

Kendra runs Vibrant Okanagan Concierge, a full-spectrum care service offering everything from vacation rental management and house cleaning to pet sitting. But more than the services, what she’s really offering is trust.

“We take care of people’s homes and pets.
From cleaning to caring, we’re really showing up for our community in practical ways that let people exhale a little.”

What started as a simple act of sharing job opportunities with friends in her twenties has grown into a sustainable business, empowering others in a town where secure, living-wage jobs were hard to find. And she runs it all with heart, balancing the business full-time while choosing to only work part-time hours.

Rebuilding from the Ground Up

When she first launched her business, Kendra wasn’t doing it from a place of convenience or safety. She was in the middle of a major personal transition.

“I had just broken free from a sneakily abusive, codependent relationship and was rebuilding myself in every aspect of life.”

That chapter sparked a return to her roots, and a reconnection with her intuition. She began surrounding herself with other young business builders who reminded her that the answers she was searching for weren’t out there, they were already inside her.

Building Through the Hardest High

In 2020, while other businesses were shutting down, Kendra’s business bloomed. She pivoted fast, hired nearly 100 people to meet the local demand, and filled real gaps in her community.

“It was the most challenging high. I stayed the course while others paused, and I’m proud of that.”

She didn’t do it for status. She did it because it needed to be done, and because people were counting on her.

How She Moves Now

These days, progress for Kendra looks different. She leads with her nurturing, feminine side instead of forcing through with rigid structure. She trusts her team deeply. She makes space for others to show up as they are.

“Lifestyle, first. My nurturing side has created more calm flow.”

She’s even quietly studying canine psychology to better care for her rescue dog, who was saved from a high-kill shelter on the day of his scheduled euthanasia. That learning has taught her more about humans, too.

“Understanding how to read and respect dogs’ emotions helps me understand people better.”

The Plain Pillars

Impact First

“I give kindness, respect, and space. When given space, people show you who they really are. Everyone is craving to be seen and understood. I try to understand.”

Identity is Earned
Her team knows she’s in their corner. Always. Even when things go sideways.

“When someone truly understands that you’ll always have their back, they will perform their best.”

Small Bets, Big Ideas
From free digital flyers to a 9,000 square foot mansion move-out clean, Kendra’s journey has been full of leaps.

“I had barely built a team, but I flew around the house managing everyone. It took us four days. It was a huge success.”

In the Middle of the Journey

Kendra doesn’t chase recognition, she radiates self-trust.

“Being in the middle feels like self-love. Knowing you have a higher purpose, even if others can’t see it yet. And that’s okay.”

When asked what she’d tell someone starting their own thing, she says:

“Your life is going to blossom. Everything will fall more into the alignment you never knew you were needing.”

And if you’ve ever crossed paths with Kendra, you know she means it. You also know it’s probably already happening, whether you realize it or not.
